报告人简介:Meilin Liu is the B. Mifflin Hood Chair, Regents' Professor, and Associate Chair of the School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his B.S. from South China University of Technology and his M.S. & Ph.D. from University of California at Berkeley, all in MSE.  His research interests include point defects and transport in solids, electrochemical behavior of thin films and interfaces, solid state ionics, and electroceramics. His current research activities include in situ/operando characterization and multi-scale modeling of charge and mass transfer along surfaces, across interfaces, and in membranes, thin films, and nanostructured electrodes, aiming at achieving rational design of materials and structures with unique functionalities for efficient energy storage and conversion. He has supervised 32 postdoctoral fellows, 38 PhD students, 25 joint PhD students, 13 MS students, and 28 visiting scholars. He holds 27 U.S. patents, published ~430 refereed journal papers (Science、Nature、Nature Comm.、Materials Science and Engineering: R: Reports、Advanced Materials、Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.、Energy Environ. Sci.), delivered ~180 invited talks, co-edited 7 proceedings volumes, and co-organized 11 international symposia/workshops. Overall citations are over 20,000 with h-index of 79. He is a Fellow of the Electrochemical Society (2012) and American Ceramic Society (ACerS, 2011). He was the winner of the Charles Hatchett Award (UK IM3, 2018), HTM Outstanding Achievement Award (ECS, 2018), Kolon Faculty Fellow (2017), Outstanding Faculty Research Author Award (Georgia Tech, 2013), Ross Coffin Purdy Award (ACerS, 2010), NASA Tech Brief Award (2007), invited participant in US-Japan Frontiers of Engineering (NAE, 2007), Crystal Flame Innovation Award in Research (FuelCell South, 2005), Outstanding Achievement in Research Program Development Award (Georgia Tech, 2003), Sustained Research Award (Sigma Xi, 2003), Best Faculty Paper Award (Sigma Xi, 2001), Outstanding Faculty Research Author Award (Georgia Tech, 1999), Invited participant in Frontiers of Engineering (NAE, 1997), Best MS Thesis Advisor Award (Sigma Xi, 1996), and a National Young Investigator Award (NSF, 1993).
